Conference Session

"I wish I could draw, but I can't..."

A fun and practical example of overcoming limiting beliefs with NLP
with Phil Miller

Did someone tell you at school that you can’t draw?  I was told that (or maybe just thought I heard it).  I then believed that I couldn’t draw for the next 40 odd years!  Until one day, I decided that I wanted to draw and that I would do something about it – this, by the way, is probably the most difficult bit, deciding to “have a go” – it’s far more difficult than actually drawing!

You can shortcut my experiences by joining my drawing class for about two hours – it’s based on the teachings of Betty Edwards (“Drawing with the right side of the brain”)  plus a bit of NLP to help you make it happen (but only if you want to change this part of your life).

  • On one level then, this is about learning to draw or demonstrating to yourself that you do have the capability to learn to draw.
  • At another level it’s about overcoming limiting beliefs (I can’t draw, I can’t…).  So, if you believe that you can’t draw and then you found that you could, where else in your life might this be applicable?
  • You might also learn something about “self coaching” – why do we tend to be more self-critical of our own work, than we would be of someone else’s work (positive versus negative feedback)?

Level of NLP experience needed to attend this session: Open to all
